CardiAngel for "Cardio-Protected Cities"
Intervention in the First 3 Minutes Connects to Life
The American Heart Association states that OHCA ( Out-of Hospital Cardiac Arrests) is responsible for more deaths than colon cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, car crashes, pneumonia, respiratory tract infection, HIV, firearms, and fires took together.
In an emergency, it may take an average of 8-15 minutes for an ambulance to arrive and reach the scene in buildings, schools, hotels, and houses. Each minute delay reduces the chance of success by 10%. In case of a late start of defibrillation, the survival chance of the patient decreases; and only one among 250 patients can be saved in average in the event of starting cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation after the first 10 minutes.
A cardio-protected city is not just a place equipped with AEDs. It is a place where, besides, there is a vision shared by the entire community, doing its best to respond to an emergency. Life is the best gift, and with our global expertise, and the optimum positioning of AEDs based on the accessibility restrictions, we can build "Heart Safe Cities"

Which places should have an CardiAngel® AED?
Sudden cardiac arrest occurs when the heart stops beating suddenly for any reason, with or without warning. One reason the heart might stop is the failure of the electrical system in the heart to conduct impulses along the correct path. Random impulses firing all over the heart will cause it to quiver uselessly, not moving blood around the body or producing a pulse.
When the AED shocks the heart it causes the heart to stop momentarily. This pause gives the heart time to reset and allows special cells in the heart to regain control and fire rhythmically, pushing blood.
People from any age, gender or race carry risk of sudden cardiac arrest; however some of them have higher risk than others:
-
40+ years old males
-
Menopausal females
-
Smokers
-
Diabetics
-
Lack of exercise
-
Stress
-
High cholesterol
-
Cardiac diseases
What is Sudden Cardiac Arrest ?
Who carries risk of sudden cardiac arrest ?
Every year, more than 7 million people die to a sudden cardiac arrest, worldwide. A sudden cardiac arrest can hit anyone, anywhere and at any time. A defibrillator in combination with well-performed chest compressions is the only therapy that can save a patient’s life.
What's the difference between a heart attack and a cardiac arrest?
While a heart attack is a circulation problem, cardiac arrest is an electrical problem triggered by a disruption of the heart's rhythm.
During a heart attack, blood flow to the heart is blocked, often by a blood clot or a buildup of plaque in the arteries. Since the heart muscle needs oxygen to survive, when blood flow is blocked, the muscle begins to die. This is why heart attack sufferers need to be rushed into surgery to resolve the obstruction and restore blood flow.
In cardiac arrest, the heart stops beating and needs to be restarted. Because cardiac arrest stops the heart from beating, the brain, lungs, and other organs do not get the blood and oxygen they need. Cardiac arrest can lead to death within minutes if not treated. Most heart attacks do not lead to cardiac arrest. However, when cardiac arrest happens, a heart attack is a common cause.
EVERY MINUTE COUNTS
During a cardiac arrest, the survival probability
decreases by about 10 % every minute.
If the victim is unconscious and is not breathing normally, chest com-pressions and rescue breaths (CPR) need to be performed immediately. CPR doubles the survival rate and the early use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) can lead to survival rates of up to 75% in case of cardiac arrests. In an emergency, procedures that would normally be easy to follow can be confusing. CardiAngel therefore focuses on providing easy-to-use devices, enabling quick action during an emergency.
